Type at least 1 character to search Hit enter to search or ESC to close. Editing photos in Adobe Lightroom is fantastic. Its a creative powerhouse, and with so many Single variable Presets to choose from, we are spoiled with options.

In fact with so many Lightroom Presets it actually becomes overwhelming. Which Lightroom presets are best? Which Lightroom presets are best for weddings? Which Lightroom presets are best for portraits? Which presets are best for street photography?

Or how about landscape presets, nighttime presets or lifestyle presets? You get the picture. We invite you to score them yourself and come up with your own totals as we go.

Once we rate each Lightroom preset pack out of 10 for each category, we will have a clear picture of which Lightroom Presets are best overall, which Lightroom presets are the best value, and hopefully give you a much better idea of which preset pack you should buy.

While the packs offer various effects and styling, they all follow a similar layout, strengths and weaknesses. In our never ending quest for the best lightroom presets out there, our next stop is Mastin Labs.

They take a less is more approach to Lightroom Presets, offering just a few airflow vs luigi in each pack. But sometimes less is more — And in our opinion, this is especially true when it comes to choosing Lightroom Presets. Which would you rather — terrible Lightroom presets, or 5 blow your mind awesome ones? This seems to be the goal of Mastin Labs — To simplify your options to the very best, and to emulate film while also cutting down on your workflow time.

We think this is a great approach. And of course, we HAD to try them! With a similar setup to Mastin Labs, Tribe Presets include a limited number of options to keep you from pulling your hair out trying to decide which preset to use. But their presets take a different approach from Mastin visually. Where Mastin Labs Presets aim to be subtle and gently emulate film, Tribe Archipelago presets are all about creating mood, vibrancy and style.

Hipsters everywhere seem to be drawn to Tribe Archipelago Presets. And so after months of painstaking work, trial and error, we crafted Genesis.

As photographers frequently editing several thousand images per week, having presets that just WORK was a non-negotiable — Using other preset packs we found ourselves having to make tweaks every time the lighting changed in our photos.

So we created a preset pack that just works. Lets see how they stack up against the competition! This random order is kept the same for every photo to see if you can figure out which is which, and which you prefer. WB was left the same for each photo.Type at least 1 character to search Hit enter to search or ESC to close.

Only exposures were adjusted very slightly where necessary as some of the presets produced darker results than others.

Other than that all edits are the preset without tweaks. Because testing EVERY preset in each pack against eachother would take an unimaginable amount of time, we selected the preset from each pack we thought gave the most consistent results. Although we recommend viewing on a larger screen to more clearly see the differences.

Honestly, the results of our Lightroom Preset Shootout were both insightful and a little surprising! Of all the preset packs we tested, VSCOs were the hardest to figure out. The sheer number of presets to choose from, and their complicated naming scheme left us confused and frustrated trying to achieve the look we wanted. So 9 for flexibility and broad range of options. VSCO surprised us here. Before I begin this review, know that it is in no way sponsored.

I paid for my presets using my own money, and I am being completely honest in my opinions. LXC is a set of presets created by Tribe Archipelagoor rather more specifically Loren and Chris, a wedding photography duo.

Tribe Archipelago creates the presets connected to Looks Like Filma website and online community centering around film inspired or film simulating Lightroom presets. Warm photos with stunning reds, gorgeous greens, and muted tones. The presets were created with the idea of mimicking the edits used by professional photographers when they edit their own photos, and with the idea of creating unique edits rather than just sticking to emulating the film look. Keep in mind, while you can certainly use these presets on any kind of photo they were definitely made with portraits and weddings in mind.

Since then Tribe Archipelago has come out with a new pack, LXC N or the updated LXC, I will not be reviewing that pack yet though I can tell you now it certainly has a different perhaps more polished look. A preset is a saved set of edits, essentially, you can click a preset and instantly edit a ton of your photos at once or one individual photo if you please.

You can make your own presets or you can buy them, presets tend to really vary in style and price. This is not including individual artists that release their own presets. Some are seasoned photographers well versed in editing, others have never shot with anything other than an iPhone, and some people find themselves somewhere in the middle.

When I noticed that LXC was not only very popular but a preset I wanted to add to my collection I decided to do my research first. I stalked Instagram, Flickr, Tumblr, anywhere and everywhere to see if I could find photos like mine. I eventually took the plunge, bought the presets, and vowed that I would fill that void as best I could. So here I am. I think that a lot of beginning photographers think that presets will make their photos look like the pros.

That said, it can be a great tool and obviously, these are beautiful edits. However, I want people to be informed buyers. Portraits are where LXC shines, in my opinion. I decided to go through some of my old portraits having taken no new ones lately and I really enjoyed seeing new life breathed into my photos. I had read in reviews that people were not fond of the way that skin was reddened by the preset.

What can I say? I started off shooting film and I try to be as light with my editing as I can afford. Though straight out of the camera photos, at least on my Nikon, are less than impressive. My favorite presets out of the bunch were presets 02 and Is LXC a game changer when it comes to pet photography? LXC is for dslr or mirrorless camera users as well as people who use Lightroom or Photoshop. My conclusion is: maybe?

Depends on who you are, what you shoot with, and what your goals are. Also, if you already have an established editing style you love?

Stick with it, no need to become another person who uses a preset that everyone else does if you already have your own original look. If you would like to purchase this preset it can be found here. Solzhenitsyn reveals the entire apparatus of Soviet repression—the state within the state that ruled all-powerfully. Through truly Shakespearean portraits of its victims—men, women, and children—we encounter secret police operations, labor camps and prisons; the uprooting or extermination of whole populations, the welcome that awaited Russian soldiers who had been German prisoners of war.

Yet we also witness the astounding moral courage of the incorruptible, who, defenseless, endured great brutality and degradation. The Gulag Archipelago — —a grisly indictment of a regime, fashioned here into a veritable literary miracle—has now been updated with a new introduction that includes the fall of the Soviet Union and Solzhenitsyn's move back to Russia.
